People’s Majlis Majority Leader and PNC MP for Inguraidhoo constituency Ibrahim Falaah has stated that he has never engaged in theft and earns his living strictly through honest hard work.

Speaking during today’s parliamentary sitting in response to opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) lawmakers, Falaah requested the Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee to conduct an inquiry into the corruption allegations leveled against him.

"I saw allegations circulating on social media claiming I sold a landing craft to MWSC. I have not commented on it publicly, but I want the Public Accounts Committee to investigate this matter live so the entire nation can watch. The claims allege that a landing craft worth MVR 900,000 was sold for MVR 17 million," Falaah said.

Falaah asserted that no evidence of theft would ever be found against him because he does not steal.

He added that the previous MDP administration had also attempted to investigate him over alleged corruption involving ferry vessels, but concluded their term without uncovering any wrongdoing.

He maintained that his income is derived entirely through lawful, halal means.

"We are not people who live off stolen money, Mr. Speaker. We earn our income through lawful work, waking up every day for dawn prayers in congregation, working from morning until midnight. We make our living through honest hard work," he said.
