Malé City Council has decided to hold separate consultation meetings with residents of each ward to finalize the capital's Land Use Plan.
In an announcement made today, Malé City Council stated that work is underway to amend Malé's Land Use Plan in alignment with the "Rethink Malé Urban Strategy" and the Local Development Plan framework. As part of this effort, public meetings will be held across each ward to gather resident feedback and input.
The council stated that the first consultation will be held with residents of Galolhu, scheduled for 8:30 PM this coming Saturday at Galolhu Madharusaa. The council has also invited Vilimalé residents to participate in this session.
The decision to convene these meetings comes amid public scrutiny regarding significant expenditures incurred for community town halls held under the Decentralization Act.
Records disclosed under the Right to Information (RTI) Act revealed that substantial expenses were incurred for a public meeting held last February. However, responding to the criticism, senior council officials maintained that such spending has been reduced considerably compared to previous years.
