The second pump station installed along the newly asphalted stretch of Boduthakurufaanu Magu has been brought into operation.
Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) commissioned Pump Station 2, located at the Fishermen's Park, last Thursday.
MTCC stated today that the pump station situated in the MMA area (Station 1) was operationalized yesterday.
According to MTCC, the pump stations installed under Phase 1 of the Boduthakurufaanu Magu redevelopment project will deliver an effective solution to street flooding triggered by seasonal heavy rainfall, significantly improving stormwater drainage in the area.
The redevelopment of Boduthakurufaanu Magu, which was completed and opened for use last month, was contracted to MTCC along with the establishment of a comprehensive drainage network. The company noted that all related work will be fully completed by the end of this month.
Under the wider project to expand and pave Boduthakurufaanu Magu with asphalt, work on the remaining undeveloped segment—stretching from the MPL area to the Tsunami Monument—is currently scheduled for completion by the end of November.
