President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has said 2027 is expected to be the year in which the highest number of development projects are completed across the Maldives.
Speaking on the President’s Office podcast, The Pulse, President Dr Muizzu said the pace of project implementation varies between islands, while solutions are being found to address delays affecting some major projects. He said the Government expects to deliver positive results on its commitments to residents across the country.
The President said a clear plan and schedule have been prepared to ensure projects are implemented as planned. These include projects in education and healthcare infrastructure, as well as the construction of mosques, harbours, roads and other urban development projects.
He added that the procurement of materials required for harbour and coastal protection projects, including rock, is also being carried out according to separate schedules.
While some projects are expected to be completed this year, President Dr Muizzu said the current schedule indicates that 2027 will see the highest number of projects completed overall. Surveys for additional projects are also being completed, with their implementation planned for the coming years.
