State Minister for Homeland Security Dr. Abdulla Fairoosh has resigned from his post.

Fairoosh, who previously served as Assistant Commissioner of Police, stated in a post on X today that he decided to step down after careful deliberation. He added that this was the ideal time to conclude his chapter of serving in government positions.

He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve, thanking the colleagues and institutions he worked with throughout his journey.

In the current administration, Fairoosh was initially appointed as State Minister for Higher Education before being reassigned as State Minister for Homeland Security on October 24, 2024, a position he held until today.

Having served in several senior police roles, Fairoosh retired from the police service in January 2021, last holding the position of Assistant Commissioner of Police prior to his retirement.
