President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has inspected the progress of the new Government-funded building of Al-Madrasathul Arabiyyathul Islamiyya.

The construction project was contracted to Rasheed Carpentry and Construction (RCC) by the Ministry of Education on 12 November 2024. The President was welcomed at the site by Education Minister Dr Ismail Shafeeu and RCC Managing Director Ibrahim Rasheed.

During the visit, the President also met with students of Arabiyya School and students seeking opportunities for higher education. He listened to their concerns and assured them of the Government’s support, while highlighting the importance it places on higher education.

The new eight-storey school building is scheduled for completion by the end of December, with classes expected to begin there in the 2027 academic year.

The facility will include classrooms and modern resources to support education. The Government said the project aims to develop Arabiyya School into a modern centre offering education in Arabic across a wider range of fields.

The relocation of Arabiyya School to a spacious, purpose-built facility in Malé is part of a presidential pledge.
