Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has stated that 1,260 tons of waste accumulated near the Fahi flats in Hulhumalé Phase 2 was cleared over three days.

The joint cleanup operation under the program titled 'Madhirin Rakhaa' (Safe from Mosquitoes), carried out by HDC, Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC), and Hulhumalé Police, commenced on the 8th of this month.

HDC stated that total waste collected reached 1,260 tons as of last night, adding that the area has now been cleared through collective efforts. The corporation emphasized that public cooperation is essential to maintain cleanliness.

To sustain a clean environment around Fahi flats, FDC has warned that individuals dumping waste in the area will be identified through video footage and fined.

Speaking in an interview with news outlets, FDC's Deputy Managing Director Ibrahim Razan requested residents living in Fahi Towers to identify and report individuals dumping waste to FDC and HDC.

"Once reported, we will monitor the situation and take action. Furthermore, once this area is completely cleared, we will develop the area, lay paving blocks, and build green spaces as desired by the residents," Razan said.

He added that these plans can only be successfully fulfilled if residents of the Fahi flats cooperate with relevant authorities and report rule violators to the company.
