Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has stated that vacant spaces near the Fahi flats in Hulhumalé Phase 2 will be developed in the same manner as the areas surrounding the Hiyaa flats.

Organized as a community event under the theme "Madhirin Rakhaa" (Safe from Mosquitoes), HDC, Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC), Hulhumalé Police, and local residents joined forces to clear the waste dumped near the Fahi flats.

Speaking to reporters after launching the initiative, HDC Managing Director Ali Zuhair stated that numerous development plans have been finalized to ensure that transformations brought to Hulhumalé create a pleasant living environment for local residents as well as expatriates living in the area.

He added that once the clearance of accumulated waste in the area is complete, HDC will collaborate with FDC to establish parks at the site.

"Vacant spaces within the community are designated for establishing parks and creating an optimal environment for residents. Even within the area where waste was dumped today, spaces have been allocated for a park. Work will begin in these areas to provide necessary amenities for residents, including gazebo seating (holhuashi), children's play areas, and traditional joali seats," Zuhair said.

He noted that this area is planned for development to the same standard as existing community environments in Hulhumalé Phase 2.

"Just like in the Hiyaa flats area, parks will be developed here to bring everyone in the community together. We will start and carry out this work in the very near future," HDC Managing Director Zuhair stated.

Zuhair also emphasized that cooperation among all community members is essential to make all of Hulhumalé a safe and clean environment for its residents.
