The remand period for Andrew Lloyd Corbin, a Jamaican national who attempted to smuggle over a kilogram of drugs into the Maldives by air, has been extended by 30 days.

Maldives Police Service stated that Andrew Lloyd Corbin (53) was arrested following information provided by Maldives Customs Service indicating he was concealing drugs in his body upon arrival in the Maldives by air last July.

In a joint operation conducted by Drug Enforcement and Counter-Narcotics Intelligence regarding the case, two Maldivian men were also arrested alongside Corbin. They include an individual named Ibrahim Athoof and an unidentified Maldivian.

When produced before the court to determine their remand, Andrew Lloyd Corbin and Ibrahim Athoof were initially remanded for 15 days, while the second Maldivian was released under conditions.

However, upon being produced before the Criminal Court for an extension of his remand, the court ordered Corbin to be held in custody for an additional 30 days.
