President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has said a transparent financial system is essential to maintaining public trust in the Government.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the SIDS Supreme Audit Institutions (SIDS-SAIs) Symposium 2026 in AA. Ukulhas, the President said public funds must be spent responsibly and efficiently.
He said strengthening institutions, ensuring responsible financial management and maintaining transparency are key to building public confidence in government.
President Dr Muizzu also said the Maldives 2.0 vision goes beyond digitalising public services, describing it as a broader transformation of governance through technology to drive national development.
He noted that digital transformation offers small island developing states an opportunity to overcome geographical challenges, limited resources and other constraints.
The President added that economic resilience is not about avoiding challenges, but about managing them effectively through prudent governance and sound financial management.
