President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed arrived in AA. Ukulhas today to grace the symposium of Audit Offices of Small Island Developing States.
Upon their arrival on the island, the President and First Lady were accorded a warm welcome by local residents and symposium participants.
The ongoing three-day symposium in Ukulhas is a special event jointly organized by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs and the Auditor General's Office of the Maldives.
A special ceremony of the event, titled "SIDS SAIs Symposium," is scheduled to take place today, where President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu will deliver an address.
The main objective of the symposium is to build capacity within audit offices of Small Island Developing States and strengthen their efforts toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
A total of 80 delegates from various countries are participating in the symposium.
Today's sessions will feature extensive discussions on the role of audit institutions in national climate adaptation efforts, as well as the digitalization of governance systems.
