Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has stated that assistance from the Zakat Fund is disbursed following robust guidelines and that aid from the fund will go exclusively to its rightful beneficiaries.

The Minister made these remarks while responding to a question posed by a member during today's sitting of the People's Majlis.

Responding to a member's question highlighting complaints that individuals with certain connections receive assistance more easily, the Minister stated that providing aid through the Zakat Fund is carried out under a special policy of the President.

He added that efforts are being made to develop the fund and extend its benefits to a larger number of citizens.

He also stated that work on formulating relevant legislation is underway and that dedicated committees have been established to oversee aid disbursement from the Zakat Fund.

However, the Minister assured that if there are any administrative difficulties in obtaining aid from the Zakat Fund, they will be resolved and rectified.
