The Criminal Court has ordered three individuals arrested at Velana International Airport on suspicion of smuggling over eight kilograms of narcotics into the Maldives to be remanded in custody for an additional 30 days.

Those whose remand was extended by the Criminal Court are Ilyas Ahmed (42) of H. Kahafathi, Hassan Sham'oon (36) of G. Haylhi, and Ahmed Afrah (33) of Feyrugasdhoshuge, Mukurimagu, L. Gan.

These individuals were arrested on June 9 on suspicion of importing, selling, and trafficking narcotics in the Maldives.

A total of five people were arrested in connection with this case, including two Indian nationals.

They are Mohamed Musthaq Jamal (29) and Sirajudeen Rashitha (26).
