The Maldives Meteorological Service (MET) has stated that weather conditions are expected to deteriorate across various parts of the country, with tidal swells likely affecting some islands.
According to MET, rain with thunderstorms is forecasted for some islands until 6:00 PM today. Winds are expected to blow from the west and northwest at speeds between 5 to 15 mph, with gusts reaching approximately 35 mph during squalls.
Seas are expected to be slight to moderate, becoming moderately rough during squalls. MET further noted that although wave heights will range between two and five feet, swell waves are possible on some islands during high tide hours. Consequently, the public has been urged to remain cautious.
While tidal swells are forecasted for some islands today, Malé experienced severe swell wave surges yesterday.
