President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has decided not to hold the official Independence Day reception this year, continuing the arrangement adopted last year.

The decision is part of the Government's ongoing efforts to reduce State expenditure.

The official Independence Day ceremony will proceed as scheduled at 9:00 a.m. on Independence Day at the Maldives Centre for Social Education.

President Dr Muizzu is also scheduled to deliver the Independence Day address during the ceremony.
