President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has returned to Malé after concluding his official visit to the State of Qatar.

The visit was undertaken to pay respects to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, and the Royal Family following the passing of the former Amir, His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

During the visit, the Amir received President Dr Muizzu in audience. The President conveyed condolences on behalf of the Government and the people of the Maldives, while the two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.

The President's Office said the visit reflects the Maldives' longstanding friendship with Qatar.
