President Dr Mohamed Muizzu departed for the State of Qatar this morning on an official visit.

The visit is being undertaken to pay respects on behalf of the people of the Maldives and himself, to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, the Royal Family, and the brotherly people of Qatar, following the passing of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, former Emir of the State of Qatar, yesterday.

Other foreign dignitaries are also expected to arrive in Qatar to join the Royal Family in mourning the late former Emir.
