A total of 836 expatriates were inspected during an operation conducted by the Maldives Immigration Task Force on Migration in Thilafushi yesterday, with 32 individuals detained.
Maldives Immigration said the operation forms part of the Government's ongoing efforts to address the issue of undocumented expatriates in the country.
The Government has been carrying out inspections at cafés, restaurants, farms and other private-sector workplaces to ensure expatriate workers are complying with immigration laws.
According to Maldives Immigration, expatriates found to be in violation of immigration regulations are detained before being deported from the Maldives.
