President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has extended condolences to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, following the passing of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, former Amir of Qatar.

In a message to Sheikh Tamim, President Dr Muizzu praised the former Amir's visionary leadership, stating that it transformed Qatar into a nation of global prominence. He said Sheikh Hamad's legacy of peace, development and generosity would continue to inspire future generations.

The President also highlighted the former Amir's contributions to the Maldives, including the launch of Qatar Airways operations in the country and the establishment of Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani School and Masjid Al Sheikh Qasim Bin Al Thani.

On behalf of the Government and people of the Maldives, President Dr Muizzu extended his condolences to Sheikh Tamim, the Royal Family and the people of Qatar. He also prayed for Allah to grant the former Amir the highest ranks of Jannah.

The President also conveyed his condolences in a post on his official X account.
