Water and electricity services commenced yesterday at Zone A of the Malé North Harbour, where vessels transporting goods and passengers from the atolls dock.
According to Maldives Ports Limited (MPL), these essential utility services were previously accessible only in Zone B and Zone C.
MPL stated that the introduction of these services in Zone A follows the completion of road expansion works along that section of Boduthakurufaanu Magu, implemented under the directives of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. The practical setup and installation works for this project were initiated by the company in March of this year.
The commencement of these utilities will provide immense convenience to the boats and vessels utilizing the North Harbour, MPL noted. The newly established infrastructure in Zone A has the capacity to provide electricity to 48 vessels simultaneously, and 16 water supply points have been installed across the area.
MPL added that this development will offer significant relief by easing the difficulties previously faced by travelers and cargo operators bringing goods into Malé.
