PNC Parliamentary Group Leader and Inguraidhoo MP Ibrahim Falah has said President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s government will only secure financing in ways that do not place an unnecessary burden on the public.
Speaking in the Parliament on Tuesday, Falah rejected opposition claims that the government has been unable to obtain foreign loans or financial assistance. He said the current administration does not borrow simply because financing is available, but instead carefully considers the impact on the country and its people.
Falah said any borrowing undertaken by the government is done responsibly and only when it serves the national interest without imposing undue hardship on citizens.
He also said the government continues to address debts inherited from the previous MDP administration while working to recover state assets that were lost or misused.
