The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has provided assistance to over 58 individuals following a fire incident at G. Funvalhuge last night. The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) stated that they received reports of a fire on the sixth floor of the building located in the Galolhu district at approximately 10:49 PM.
According to the NDMA, 25 people received medical treatment at IGMH and 3 individuals were treated at ADK Hospital after suffering from smoke inhalation during the incident.
The authority is currently extending humanitarian aid, temporary housing, and catering arrangements to the residents of three apartments on the fifth floor where the fire broke out, as well as to occupants of other apartments currently facing water shortages due to plumbing damage caused by the fire.
"More than 58 residents from the building were provided with essential support and relief through the evacuation center set up following the incident," the NDMA stated.
The NDMA has further confirmed that the temporary evacuation center established in response to last night's fire emergency has now been officially closed.
