The Maldives has pledged USD 50,000 in aid to support the Palestinian people through the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

The pledge was announced at the UNRWA Pledging Conference held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York by the Maldives' Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dr Ali Naseer Mohamed.

Dr Naseer said the contribution was not only a financial commitment but also a commitment to protecting human dignity and upholding international norms. He also highlighted the challenges facing UNRWA and called on the international community to continue supporting the agency's work.

The Maldives previously pledged USD 50,000 to UNRWA for 2024 and reaffirmed its support for the Palestinian people with the latest contribution.
