The Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has signed agreements with key national agencies to strengthen crisis and emergency management at Velana International Airport (VIA).

The agreements were signed with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), the Maldives Meteorological Service (MMS) and the Maldives Red Crescent (MRC) during an "Airport Crisis Management" ceremony held at Hulhule Island Hotel.

MACL said the partnerships will enhance the airport's preparedness and response to emergencies by strengthening coordination between the agencies. The agreements also establish a formal framework for cooperation, clearly define the roles of each institution and provide for joint training exercises and emergency simulations.

MACL added that it remains committed to ensuring Velana International Airport maintains the highest standards of safety and preparedness for any emergency.
