The Maldives Police Service has urged seafarers to exercise caution after several shipping containers fell into the sea from a Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) barge and began drifting. The incident occurred while the barge was docked at the outer jetty of the Malé Commercial Port.

Police stated that the incident was reported by MPL tonight at around 11:30 PM.

Authorities estimate that the loose containers are currently drifting through the marine area between the islands of Dhoonidhoo and Feydhoofinolhu.

Vessels navigating through this specific region have been advised to pay close attention and proceed with utmost vigilance to ensure safe passage.
