The Criminal Court has sentenced a man to three years in prison for smuggling drugs into the halfway house in Hulhumalé and using them while undergoing treatment there.

The court sentenced Mohamed Shahid, who was charged with possession and use of diamorphine.

According to the case, Shahid brought drugs into the Hulhumalé Halfway House while receiving treatment and used the substances on the premises.

During a search, the drugs were found in the pocket of the jeans shorts he was wearing.
