Government ministries and institutions have successfully concluded a series of special activities organized to mark World Oceans Day.

Spearheaded by the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) in collaboration with multiple organizations, the celebrations featured a nationwide fishing competition ("Masrace") that received overwhelming support, attracting over 200 teams from 64 islands. The competition ran on Friday from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

In addition to the fishing tournament, a marine festival named "Enmen Moodhah" (Everyone to the Sea) kicked off yesterday morning at 9:00 AM across the islands. The festival included various water sports, coral planting initiatives, food stalls, arts and crafts, face painting, and numerous children's games.

Before the events drew to a close, Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Resources Ahmed Shiyam met with participants to discuss their experiences and gather feedback on areas of improvement for future editions of the festival. Other major entities participating in the framework of these celebrations included the Ministry of Agriculture, Bank of Maldives (BML), State Trading Organization (STO), and Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO).
