A man has been arrested in V. Keyodhoo under suspicion of smuggling, trafficking, and selling narcotics in the Maldives.

Police stated today that the suspect taken into custody is 25-year-old Fauzan Ahmed Hussain from Sandyside, V. Keyodhoo. His arrest followed a specialized operation launched after the Maldives Customs Service flagged a shipment containing over a kilogram of illicit drugs smuggled into the country.

The counter-narcotics operation was conducted on the 18th of this month through a collaborative effort involving the Drug Enforcement Department, Counter-Narcotics Intelligence, and the Maldives Customs Service.

Following his arrest, the suspect was presented before the court to determine his remand status, where the judge ordered him to be remanded in custody until the conclusion of his trial. The Maldives Police Service is currently conducting further investigations into the case.
