The Maldives has officially celebrated the arrival of its one-millionth tourist for the year. The milestone visitor is Almudena Ortuño Esparza, a Spanish national traveling to the country for the very first time. Accompanied by her husband, Esparza arrived in the Maldives to spend her vacation at The Pearl Seaview guesthouse located in V. Fulidhoo.
A festive reception was held at Velana International Airport to mark the occasion, featuring traditional Maldivian Boduberu drumming and cultural dance performances. The welcoming ceremony was attended by Minister Mohamed Ameen and the Managing Director of the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), Ibrahim Shiuree.
During the event, Esparza was presented with special commemorative gifts on behalf of the Ministry of Tourism, MMPRC, Maldives Customs Service, Maldives Immigration, Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), and Visit Maldives. This milestone marks steady progress toward the government's ambitious national target of attracting 2.5 million tourists by the end of this year.
