A family of six has been hospitalized for smoke inhalation after a fire broke out in a kitchen, triggered by an electric kettle, according to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).

The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) reported that the incident occurred in a ground-floor kitchen at Flat 141 in Hulhumalé Phase 1. The Hulhumalé Fire Station received the emergency report early this morning at 4:32 AM, and firefighters managed to completely extinguish the blaze by 4:58 AM.

The NDMA is currently working to temporarily relocate the affected family and provide them with the necessary humanitarian assistance.
