Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef departed for Berlin, Germany, on Tuesday to participate in the Berlin Climate Mobility Forum 2026 as a keynote speaker.
The forum, scheduled for June 18–19, will bring together heads of state, senior government officials, representatives of climate-affected communities, and youth innovators to discuss the challenges of climate-induced mobility and adaptation to climate change.
A key outcome of this year’s event will be the formal adoption of the Global Climate Mobility Principles, a high-level agreement aimed at supporting people’s right to remain in their communities while ensuring that any necessary relocation is carried out with dignity.
During the forum, the Vice President will deliver an opening statement at the High-Level Segment on the Climate Mobility Principles and take part in a panel discussion focused on protecting rights in the face of rising sea levels.
The event will also explore ways to turn international commitments on climate mobility into practical partnerships and coordinated action.
