President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has extended his congratulations to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on becoming the longest continuously serving Prime Minister in the country's history.

Narendra Modi, who assumed office as India's Prime Minister on May 26, 2014, has marked 4,399 consecutive days in office as of today. With this milestone, Modi has broken the historical record previously held by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru as the longest continuously serving Prime Minister of India.

In a post on X today, President Dr. Muizzu expressed confidence that the close ties between the Maldives and India will continue to strengthen in the future.

The President further noted that the relationship between the two nations is rooted in mutual respect, sovereign equality, and mutually beneficial cooperation.

He added that the Maldives looks forward to maintaining its partnership based on these core principles while working together to foster regional stability and development in the days ahead.
