A Chinese cruise liner is scheduled to make its maiden voyage to the Maldives later this month.

The Maldives Association of Yacht Agents (MAYA) announced that the cruise liner will arrive on the 23rd of this month at 7:00 AM and is scheduled to depart at 6:00 PM on the same day. The association noted that special activities are being organized to welcome the vessel.

According to MAYA, the arrival of a Chinese cruise liner marks a significant milestone for the Maldivian tourism industry, adding that the country is fully prepared to showcase its natural beauty to the visiting tourists.

Tourism Ministry statistics reveal that over 14,000 tourists have visited the Maldives via cruise liners so far this year.

China currently stands as the top source market for tourist arrivals to the Maldives. Latest data from the ministry shows that a total of 149,207 Chinese tourists had arrived in the country as of this past Monday.
