Minister of Finance Moosa Zameer has resigned from his position.
Government Spokesperson Mohamed Hussain Shareef (Mundhu) has confirmed Zameer's resignation, although an official reason was not publicly disclosed by the government. However, it is understood that his resignation is due to health-related reasons.
Zameer initially served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the current administration before being appointed as the Minister of Finance on September 30, 2024. Following subsequent cabinet reshuffles, he emerged as a highly prominent and senior figure within the administration.
In addition to his cabinet portfolio, Zameer was appointed by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu as the Chair of a special ministerial committee tasked with assessing the domestic impacts of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and formulating response measures. Furthermore, following the dissolution of the Ministry of Local Government, he was also appointed as the President of the Local Government Authority (LGA).
