The Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Endowments has begun work on a comprehensive plan to strengthen the observance of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha in line with Islamic and cultural values.
Islamic Minister Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed said a special committee is preparing a detailed plan that will be implemented annually from the next Hijri year.
According to the minister, the main objective is to organise Eid celebrations in a manner consistent with Islamic principles while enhancing the festive spirit of the occasions.
The plan includes coordinating Eid activities with island councils, increasing the participation of civil society organisations involved in Islamic outreach, and organising major events in cities. The ministry will also collaborate with the Ministry of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage.
Dr Shaheem stressed the importance of ensuring that Eid celebrations reflect Islamic values, good conduct and the country's cultural traditions.
