The ruling People's National Congress (PNC) has decided to bring forward the date for its party congress.
Although it was previously scheduled to be held this coming October, the decision to advance the congress was made during a meeting of the party council last night.
The date was brought forward after the council passed a proposal submitted by the President during last night's meeting. However, the exact date to which the congress has been moved remains unclear.
Referecing last night's meeting, the Member of Parliament for the Baarah constituency, Ibrahim Shujau, stated in a social media post that a party council meeting had taken place last night.
He noted that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu presented a proposal during the meeting, which was passed unanimously by the council. However, Shujau did not disclose the specific details of the proposal submitted by the President.
Furthermore, Shujau’s post highlighted that party council meetings will be held in close succession moving forward, adding that the entire party is currently making comprehensive preparations for the general congress.
