The Criminal Court has ordered Ahmed Rishmah (21), of Sunlightvilla, GA. Dhaandhoo—one of the three individuals arrested following the seizure of over two kilograms of drugs smuggled into the Maldives by air—to be remanded in custody until the end of his trial.

The police seized the over two kilograms of narcotics and arrested the three individuals involved in the case last February.

Those arrested comprise Malaysian national Ranjini Jeevanantham (38), Looth Ibrahim (29) of Furusathu, GDh. Vaadhoo, and Ahmed Rishmah (21) of Sunlightvilla, GA. Dhaandhoo.

Out of the three, Ranjini Jeevanantham was arrested at Velana International Airport, while Looth Ibrahim and Ahmed Rishmah were arrested from Malé.

Following multiple previous extensions of the remand periods for those arrested in connection with the case, the Criminal Court yesterday ordered for Ahmed Rishmah to be held in remand until the conclusion of the trial.
