President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the development of sports in the Maldives.

In a message shared on the occasion of World Football Day, the President said the administration’s efforts to decentralize football through the newly amended Sports Act demonstrate this commitment.

He also noted that the government is working to facilitate international football competitions in the Maldives, creating opportunities for Maldivian athletes to compete on the global stage.

President Dr Muizzu said football plays an important role in strengthening society and inspiring future generations to improve sports facilities across the country. He further described football as a sport that unites people around the world.
