Special IDD (International Direct Dialing) packages have been introduced targeting Maldivians traveling to Saudi Arabia for this year's sacred Hajj pilgrimage.
These packages were introduced to facilitate and allow Hajj pilgrims to easily connect and maintain relations with their families and friends.
According to Ooredoo, under these new packages, customers will receive three different options valid for a period of four weeks to call Saudi Arabia. In this regard, the introduced packages are:
- For MVR 100: 30 minutes
- For MVR 250: 75 minutes
- For MVR 500: 150 minutes
The validity period for all these packages is four weeks from the date of activation. These packages are designed to lower communication costs during the Hajj pilgrimage period and arrange for affordable services. Ooredoo also noted that this change will provide immense relief to customers compared to standard IDD charges.
As the Hajj season is a period when many Maldivians travel abroad at the same time, maintaining uninterrupted communication is highly important to families, which is why Ooredoo always introduces special offers to coincide with the season.
Regarding the introduction of this service, Ooredoo Maldives' Chief Commercial Officer Hussain Niyaz said, "Every year, many people from the Maldives participate in the sacred Hajj pilgrimage. Staying connected with families during this journey is very important. Through the special IDD offers introduced by Ooredoo, our target is to provide communication services easily and affordably, helping customers safely connect with their family and friends during their most important journey."
As a digital partner for Maldivian communities, Ooredoo has been providing various services based on the needs of customers. In this regard, arrangements have been made for customers to directly activate the newly introduced Hajj IDD packages through the Ooredoo App. Due to this, even while residing in Saudi Arabia during the days of the Hajj season, pilgrims will have the opportunity to renew packages without further difficulty and connect with family without interruption. This is an additional convenience for pilgrims to eliminate potential communication barriers and fully focus on their worship.
