The government has stated that the country's national airline, "Maldivian," has arranged over 64,000 seats for domestic flights in conjunction with the upcoming Eid al-Adha holidays and school break.
Speaking at a press conference held at the President's Office today, Chief Government Spokesperson Mohamed Hussain Shareef (Mundhu) stated that Maldivian will operate a total of 1,227 flight movements from the 17th of this month to the 2nd of next month, which includes 1,014 scheduled flights and 213 extra flights.
"That is for one thing during this period from 17 May to 2 June. They noted that they are operating 1,014 scheduled flights and 213 extra flights," Mundu said.
Mundhu stated that the demand for domestic flights has increased significantly during the holiday season.
Mundhu noted that during this holiday period, one out of every five flights operated by Maldivian will be an extra flight added in addition to the airline's regularly scheduled flights.
The government will be closed for a week in conjunction with this year's Eid al-Adha.
