The National Meteorological Service (MET Office) has stated that windy and rainy weather will persist through the weekend and Eid as well.
Meteorologist Khadheeja Nusra told "One" today that rain is expected over the northern and central Maldives during the next 24 hours.
"Winds are strong in the northern and central areas. Although it will remain strong until tomorrow, it might become calmer this afternoon compared to now. Winds are expected to strengthen around the 26th. Strong winds and rainy weather are predicted directly during Eid, primarily in the northern and central parts," Nusra said.
She mentioned that although it will rain in the southern islands over the weekend and early next week, the weather will not be severe. However, she noted that strong winds are possible in the southern islands during Eid.
It is anticipated that seas will be rough in the northern and central areas over the next five days and during Eid. Nusra stated that rainy weather is expected for some islands, and therefore, she urged travelers to be cautious of the weather.
