The Criminal Court has sentenced a man to prison who claimed to be an ISIS member and threatened to blow up Dhiraagu.
Nadeef Mohamed, of Rankokaage, GA. Gemanafushi, was sentenced to prison in connection with this case.
The State charged him with the offense of creating a situation that causes fear among people through an act that does not achieve a legitimate purpose, while being in a public place and knowing that his actions would cause harassment, annoyance, or fear to another person.
He was charged in connection with an incident on the evening of July 17, 2022, where he entered the Dhiraagu outlet at Velana International Airport, shouted loudly inside the shop claiming to belong to the ISIS group, stated that he carries out acts such as bombings, and caused fear by threatening to blow up Dhiraagu as well.
With the charges in this case proven against him, the Criminal Court sentenced him yesterday to one month and 24 days in prison.
