Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer said the Maldives is holding discussions with friendly countries to seek assistance as the ongoing conflict in the Middle East affects the country.
Speaking at a press conference at the President’s Office, the minister said talks are focused on securing food supplies and addressing challenges caused by the situation in the region.
He added that discussions are being carried out based on the government’s foreign policy priorities and the needs of small countries like the Maldives.
The minister also said he is in contact with ambassadors from European and Arab countries to explore available opportunities for support.
In addition, the Foreign Ministry said it is closely monitoring the situation of Maldivians living in the Middle East.
