Shamhooza Ahmed has been dismissed from her position as Chairperson of Male’ Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC).
In a statement, the Privatization and Corporatization Board said she was removed from both her role as Chairperson and her seat on the company’s board with immediate effect. No reason was given for the decision.
Shamhooza was appointed as Chairperson of MWSC on January 16, 2024. Before joining the company, she served as the council executive of the Malé City Council and also worked as a director at the Housing Ministry.
Her dismissal comes as leadership changes continue across several state-owned enterprises.
