President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has called for a full investigation into the MMPRC corruption scandal, saying justice must be served for all those involved.

Speaking at a PNC event on Thursday night, the President criticized past leaders, saying efforts to reform the country had failed due to poor governance and corruption. He also referred to allegations of ventilator theft during the COVID-19 pandemic, saying such incidents should not be forgotten.

President Dr Muizzu said that although development projects were carried out during former president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s administration, corruption and injustice against politicians were also seen during that period. He described the MMPRC scandal as a clear and undeniable case of corruption.

The President urged independent institutions to work hard to investigate all major scandals, including MMPRC, and ensure justice for the public. He assured that the government would fully cooperate with ongoing investigations.

President Dr Muizzu also said the government remains committed to uncovering the truth behind corruption scandals and protecting the rights of the people.
