Alaika Adnan has been appointed as the State Minister for Tourism following her unsuccessful bid for the presidency of the Women’s Committee of Male’ City in April.
The appointment was confirmed to One Online by the President’s Chief Government Spokesperson, Hussain Mohamed Shareef, also known as Mundhu.
After losing the PNC election, Alaika shared a message on X reflecting on her political journey. She said she was leaving the campaign with “a deeper and more lasting experience” and expressed gratitude for the trust and support she received from the public.
Alaika stated that her efforts were focused on promoting dignity, equal opportunities, meaningful participation, economic empowerment, and financial freedom for families and communities.
She also acknowledged facing frustrations and difficult moments during her political journey, including criticism and controversy, but said she remained committed to her principles and values.
“Today is not the end, it’s just a turning point. The journey will continue with renewed courage and determination,” she said.
