Dr. Mohamed Ali has advised people to get vaccinated against influenza before the upcoming Eid holidays.
In a Facebook post, Dr. Ali said the flu vaccine should be taken at least two weeks before travelling or holiday gatherings, as the body takes time to develop immunity after vaccination.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) recently reported an increase in flu cases over the past 24 hours. Authorities have also urged people to protect themselves from mosquito-borne diseases.
People travelling for Hajj or Umrah were advised to receive vaccinations for polio, meningitis and influenza two weeks before departure.
Dr. Ali also shared several health precautions, including maintaining cleanliness, washing hands regularly, wearing masks during Hajj or Umrah, staying hydrated, avoiding sugary drinks, and ensuring food is properly cooked. He further advised people with chronic illnesses to take their medications on time and carry medical documents while travelling.
