The application for the government’s official taxi line has been approved by the App Store and will be available for download and use by next week, Economic and Transport Minister Mohamed Saeed announced today. The government launched the state-run taxi service, managed by MTCC, on the 2nd of last month.
During a press conference at the President’s Office, the Minister noted that the number of people utilizing the taxi line is increasing daily, and efforts are underway to continuously improve the quality of service. Citing data from MTCC, Saeed stated that the average waiting time from booking to the car's arrival is currently 8.4 minutes, with each trip lasting an average of 12.2 minutes.
The Minister confirmed that the application has received approval from Apple’s App Store and will be accessible to both iOS and Android users within the coming week. "The application has now been approved. God willing, it will reach the stage where it can be downloaded from the App Store within this week or the coming week," Saeed said.
According to statistics shared by the Minister, 11,128 trips were completed between the 13th and 18th of last month. Since the service began, the number of users has increased by 50%. Furthermore, between the launch of the web portal on the 18th of last month and the 1st of this month, a total of 7,251 trips were recorded.
