A business forum is set to be held in Addu City next week. During a press conference at the President's Office today, Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed stated that a key objective of the government is to advance businesses in Addu Atoll by providing special concessions to traders between 2027 and 2029.
To achieve this goal, a forum has been scheduled for the 13th and 14th of this month to meet with Addu City's business community. The Minister noted that the forum will provide investors with information regarding available opportunities and the specific incentives being offered.
Several relevant ministries and institutions will participate in the event, including the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology, the Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources, the Ministry of Tourism, and the Ministry of Finance.
The Minister also revealed that Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) is currently working to initiate "Free Zone" activities at the Hithadhoo Commercial Port in Addu City. President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has previously pledged to develop Addu City as a hub for small and medium-sized enterprises.
