State-owned fish company MIFCO has officially launched its products in Sri Lanka at a ceremony attended by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, and Fisheries and Agriculture Minister Ahmed Shiyam.
At the event, Minister Shiyam highlighted the strong demand for Maldivian fish products in Sri Lanka, noting the long-standing ties between the two countries. He added that the government aims to promote the Maldives’ fisheries industry as environmentally friendly and sustainable.
MIFCO introduced a range of products, including its “Fasmeeru” products canned fish, rihakuru, and packaged grinded fish.
The launch also aligns with the government’s broader efforts to boost fisheries exports under the “From Maldives” national brand, introduced to help local producers compete in international markets.
